Happy New Year!
Thank you for visiting Lake Murray Presbyterian Day School’s web site.
We are excited about our new school building (Opened 4/15/15) but more excited about our new children and the new things they are learning.
SOME NEWS: Just before Thanksgiving, we got approval from the Fire Marshall to meet in the sanctuary and fellowship hall. Good news for big gatherings like the Christmas program!
We bought some IPADS for our younger classrooms and hope to install a Tadpoles program (click) next semester so we can communicate better with parents.
Below is a video of the three and four year olds in the first chapel singing “Jesus Loves Me.”
We have full enrollment! That does not mean that there is no more room. It does mean that we are keeping our student teacher ratios down to the levels we feel are best for the children. There is a waiting list for most ages and programs, but sometimes people move and this allows for new folks to come on board.
We are building on a program that started in 1986, but we have moved into a state of the art building. We have tried to do things right, so we are a licensed Day School (by DSS). This means extra safety and hygiene rules that will be good for the safety of the children and school, but take some getting used to.
For example, in the new school each baby has their very own (new) crib, and no other child can stay in it. The sheets are washed and dried daily. There are rules about two teachers being with the children. We have exceeded safety building codes.
We are still ironing out some kinks. We are trying to get our PTO Together. The first project will be to raise a shade above the playground (starting with the infants), and buying toddler equipment. We are going to allow for drop off of 3 & 4 year children in our curb line starting 9/7/14. We are listening and trying to fine tune things to meet the needs of our parents and children- though we recognize not every desire can be met.
